Our Thursday morning went as usual with speech and then swimming lessons. Both kids are doing great and I am really pretty pumped that they are becoming little fish. This summer should be a blast at the pool and beach. We came home and had a relaxing afternoon doing puzzles. The kids helped me do this really hard I Spy puzzle. I have to admit that Corinne is really a talented puzzle-puter-together-er. This one has the tinest details with repeats of the same objects--and an abnormal shape to top it off! But she is actually helpful at making matches. We had a blast. Right now we just have the orange one, but I hope to add to our collection and collect the kids/puzzles of all colors!
Mabel, Luke, and Jenn came over for a nice dinner that evening. She brought a great Easter project over for the kids to do and then they went fishing in the pirate boat.
Friday morning we ran errands, then had Ethan, Ellie and Brittany over for a sleepover. The kids had a blast, played outside a ton, and even got to bed early. Lincoln was a little reluctant to share his bed with Ethan. He thought it was a good idea at first and then decided he didn't want anyone he wasn't related to to sleep in his room. He is still adjusting to the idea of a sleepover, but had a great time.
The next morning it was nice and warm outside, so we sat out back while the kids played. Ellie played dress-up in some of Corinne's old clothes.
The Brittany made Corinne her very own "Miss Brittany shirt". She popped her shoulder out for us and decided she wanted to wear this special shirt for her birthday! Thank you Brittany!
Ethan and Lincoln made a bit of a mess on the side of the house, so after they left Lincoln and I cleaned up the outside. Somewhere in the mix, he made me this "yummy chocolate icecream".
We spent the rest of the day prepping for Aunt Cary to arrive! Sunday morning we drove down to San Diego to pick up one of our favorite people. We were all estatic to see her again, but it is hard to believe it had been a whole year since our last visit in Italy. The rest of the week we spent house hunting with Cary. They are moving here this spring and hoping to buy a house in the Temecula/Murrieta area--with a pool! Yeah, you don't get much cooler than that! The kids have really enjoyed all the extra loving and I really appreciate the extra help--especially at bedtime. Lincoln has been treating her to some pretty crazy bedtime stories lately. On Tuesday Warren, Jenn, and baby Hunter came out for dinner and Cary finally got to meet Warren's new family in person! Cary is slowly learning the area and finding her way around. The home buying process is a crazy one, but they were prepared for a few hiccups along the way. Hopefully they will know more by the end of the week as to what their future might hold. In the meantime, we are just saying some prayers that it all works out the way it should and they find the perfect place for their family.
It was a great week--a bit exhausting, but good and filled with awesome company all around. All this talk about everyone moving must have rubbed off on Corinne, because I found her sleeping with her airport giraffe buddy on Wednesday night.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
Quote 1: While talking to my sister on the phone after her ACL surgery.
Corinne: "Your leg is cut open? Can I see it?"
She really has a knack for the gruesome.
Quote 2: While the kids were in the shower together.
Lincoln: "Hey Ariel, go for a swim while I clog the drain."
Corinne: "I don't have fins." Crosses her legs like a mermaid.
Lincoln: "Oh here you go" He covers them with a wash cloth.
Corinne: "Oh thanks!"
Love their teamwork and imaginations!
Quote 3: While we were making hot cocoa Lincoln spilt a used Keurig cup.
Lincoln: "Oh, I just need to clean this right up. Stay away Chomps. I spilt some coffee." Jumps down for a washcloth and starts cleaning.
Me: "Wow, you are awesome. Thanks for taking the initiative to just do it yourself without asking for help or making a fuss about a spill.
Lincoln: "I wanted you to be able to enjoy the rest of your dinner."
Ahhh, my sweetheart.
Quote 4: While examining her slobber ridden, wrinkly thumb.
Corinne: "I think my thumb is getting old!"
Me: "It isn't getting it old, it is just used and abused from you sucking on it."
Corinne: "I think I am never going to suck on it again." Pops it back in her mouth.
Hmmmm, maybe vanity can help break her of her bad habits.
Quote 5: Upon walking into a fixer-upper with Cary that had all the carpets ripped out.
Lincoln: "Oh this place is a fine mess! You don't want to live here Aunt Cary!"
Later after looking around a bit.
Cary: "What do you think Lincers? If I fix this place up, do you think it would be a good place to live? Would you like it then? Would you come see me if I lived here?"
Lincoln: "If you like it, then I will like it."
Such a gentleman!
